Amazon India Fashion Week Summer-Spring 2016, took place in Okhla, Delhi last week. The 5-day runaway show was closed by some of India’s leading designers who worked jointly on the theme of “Born in Benaras”. Let me take you through my personal favourite looks and trends from the finale show.
The grand finale was a tribute to the timeless beauty of Benarasi work. The classic Benarasi weaves and threads were blended and put together, both in the forms of traditional and contemporary fashion. The closing show was a collaboration of 16 Indian designers including Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna, Namrata Joshipura, Rajesh Pratap Singh, Abhishek Gupta, Gauri and Nainika, Alpana and Neeraj, Abraham and Thakore, ATSU, Manish Arora, Ashish N Soni, Anupamaa Dayal, Sabyasachi and Tarun Tahiliani and it surely was a treat to sore eyes.
While I loved the ageless Benarasi sarees reinvented by Sabyasachi, I was more intrigued by the contemporary designs in the forms of dramatic gowns and separates. I also adored the use of whites, golds and blacks apart from the traditional bright colours.
Scroll down to see the snapshots of my favourite outfits and tell me what would you like to own among these master pieces? I’m confused to say the least, so will just be lusting over all of them for now. 😀
