Fashion is about experimenting once in a while; sliding into a little bit of drama and then getting back to the timeless classic styles! That’s why I’m elated at the arrival of ruffles and flares in the fashion scenes this year. They are a tad retro and a tad fun and exactly what electrifies my mood!
Puffed sleeves, bell sleeves, layered flares sleeves etc; 2017 is all about earning a major in sleeves and having some fun!
I have created two very different looks, featuring the dramatic touches of some ruffles and flares and I’m excited to know how you feel about both of them.
So without further ado, let’s talk about the first one today.
Flared sleeves and bottoms were quite a rage in the 90’s. Although, I always shied away from the flared bottom trend because I thought it looked hideous on me, until now when I learnt how to style it according to one’s body type. Honestly, I still wouldn’t say I’m their biggest fan but I at least not loathe them any longer.
Flared or bell sleeves, well, were a different story. As you all might have already guessed, I’m super excited about them making their way back in the 2017 (umm, on second thoughts, they were back in 2016 only I reckon!).
That’s why when I saw this layered bell sleeves yellow top on Ajio.com, I knew I want it and the next second, I bought it. The colour has a slightly mustard hue like feel and is something I can wear all my summer.
The immediate feel was to pair it with a fun bottom and luckily, I had a similar maroon pleated skirt which I bought early this year from Forever 21. I knew maroon and yellow would make a great team together too.
I didn’t feel the need of accessorizing this look; as I have mentioned before in my blogposts – accessorizing is important and it pays only when done in the right amount! Besides, minimalism is sometimes more fun and beautiful!
I hope you liked how I styled this particular piece; stay tuned for another blog post featuring the dramatic ruffles!
Until next time,
stay stylish, stay fabulous,
