Winter is finally here and so is the smog! Without getting into the debate of why the Delhi Govt failed again to curb pollution, I just want to talk about how you guys are coping with it? I know for sure that schools have been shut down for as long as a month at least in Gurgaon but offices are not. And while odd-even is back from Monday and we really need to take extreme steps to control this emergency environmental crisis.
For the starters I would definitely suggest you all to buy a good N-95 /99 pollution mask. The basic mask from 3M costs Rs. 160 (approx) but it’s getting sold out at all the chemists. Look up amazon and you might land yourself some fancy ones too. But don’t forget to #WearTheMask. It’s the least form of protection you can give to yourself and your family. If you want, you could buy one of those air purifiers as well. However, I doubt how effective it is going to be if you have to travel out as you obviously can not carry it with yourself. Eat a lot of citrus fruits and include eucalyptus oil in some way. (you could probably put one capsule in your steamer and inhale it).
Also, if in case it is unavoidable to travel, one must take care of his/her skin, hair and eyes. Avoid lenses (I have been doing that as well) and try and wear your regular power glasses. Wear sunglasses otherwise. Wash your hair and skin frequently and cover them up when you are out in the open. Also, don’t forget to stay hydrated.
I really hope we take some serious measures to restore healthy air in our capital. We need to contribute too towards our environment in every small bit possible and also teach people about the importance of the same.
Anyhow, coming back to today’s blogpost; I mentioned in the beginning that winter has finally arrived in north India and it’s time I did my first fall look book on the blog. While it may not be a full sweater weather as yet, the mornings and nights are pretty chilly. Well, I certainly enjoy this time of the year along with the beginning of spring the most (unfortunately, the smog is not allowing us to).
I decided to do a basic and casual fall look to begin with. A knitted shift dress has always been my favourite for winters; especially for the beginning and end of fall. This is time we could wear them without any leggings or stockings or any additional layer of warm clothes.
I bought this yellow & black colour-block shift dress from Vajor a little while back and I guess it’s sold out on their website right now. 🙁 Never mind, I have put down something similar in the link below which you guys can check out at the end of the blog post.
Keeping the styling minimal, I opted for a pair of red studs and black ankle length boots to team up with the dress. A quilted black bag from River Island and Ray Ban wayfarers finished out my first fall look just about perfectly.
This look is also great for southern part of our country where there is hardly any winter and people crave to wear those boots and jackets throughout the year. LOL!
I hope you guys enjoyed the post and also took notes of the precautionary measures I mentioned. Those of you who are already on it, please ignore and focus on the look book. *wink*
Let me know in comments below your thoughts on the smog and what measures you have been taking.
Until next time,
