Girl Boss

I wanted to do some formal looks on the blog for a really really long time now but somehow it just didn’t happen! Nonetheless, here’s the first of, hopefully, a lot more to come and I hope you like it!

I don’t know about you but I have always found formal dressing a lot chic and stylish. It is not limited to say a pencil skirt or a pair of well fitted trousers. In fact a polished solid a-line skirt, flared trousers, a solid and muted shift dress, all of them can well be styled for your official chapters.

However, I’m more of a traditional type and I love myself a variety of pencil skirts as I think nothing beats how powerful and elegant they make you look. And although I understand the need of not going overboard for a formal dress up, I think the addition of one or two fun elements is always all right!

Now, let’s talk a little about this particular look that I have created!

As I have mentioned, I’m a tad biased towards pencil skirts and hence, I decided to feature them in my first page of the formal look-book. The only twist in this pencil skirt is that it has a side slit and a couple of gathers on front. These details distinguish it from the regular pencil skirts. This textured dark grey skirt from Zalora is an old purchase from Jabong. To make it a little vibrant, I teamed the skirt with a satin pink blouse from Shopnineteen. Satin is trending high this season and though I’m not big on them, they do look good with formal attires.

I love ironed open hair or a nice ponytail for my formal meetings; here, I decided to sport a side ponytail which adds more youth and fun to your otherwise boring office looks. A pair of pink clear crystal studs and my go-to Fossil watch contributed to my accessorizing bit. Adding the final finishing touches were my classic black heels and a black tote from Forever New which I had grabbed during the mid-season sale. I reckon, every girl must have these two items in her wardrobe.

I hope you guys enjoyed the first post in my formal look book on the blog! I promise I will try and do more in the future as well.

Do comment on your favorite formal look and let’s see what all innovations we can bring to this otherwise unexplored area!

Until next time,

Stay stylish, Stay fabulous,

  1. Hey Reitu,It’s always great to check your posts every now and then to get some very great fashion tips and I look forward to them almost all the time when it comes to styling myself or someone else. Actually, I’d like to make a correction over here. In formals, wearing a dark-shaded lower with a very light-shaded top is what goes proper with the dress code. Even if one goes for an interview or a board meeting, this is the apt colour combination he/she should maintain. This was the first time and the only thing I felt I should write it down over here.
