“I love everything that’s old – old friends, old times, old manners, old books, old wine.”
I’ve put together items that made an impact or were popular among people during their time to create this retro-cum-jazzy look and hence this is nothing short of a blast from past.
For the longest time, I thought flared jeans were one of the trickiest trends to pull off and I was never able to come on board with them. But then, as they say, you evolve with fashion as time passes by. It’s not the fashion industry alone which is constantly on the run to create new trends every season but it’s also your style that changes and evolves; even if the change is minor and unnoticeable to the naked eye, it does occur!
Cut to 2018, I have now developed some sort of warmth for flared denims even though I’d admit I’m still to find the perfectly fitted boot cut denims for me but I was instantly drawn towards this flared / wide-legged pair of denims from Bhane. It is super comfortable yet edgy enough for a casual day style.
I have also been loving high-waist bottoms these days and absolutely can not decipher why I used to make fun of them whenever I watched an early 90’s or 80’s Bollywood film. I somehow find them more flattering on my body type.
Any how, let’s talk about the not-so-basic look that I created here now. A pair of white shirt and blue denims is an instant hit – no surprises there at all. So I just decided to play around the basic style with small details and retouches of my own.
I replaced white shirt with a polka dotted one which also had a fun winged sleeves detail to it. Normally I’d tuck my shirts in, but this time around, I tied a couple of knots to give the shirt a crop-top type of an appearance. I paired it with the Bhane wide-legged denims and then was the time for some retro additions to the look.
Keeping my hair open, I decided to wear my favourite oversized bronze hoops also perfect for a retro look. I also wore the 80’s famous white framed sunglasses which added a bit of jazz to the look though I doubt I would have bought or worn them before (talk about style evolution may be). To add some colours to the otherwise monochrome look, I wore an orange pair of mules which were both casual and chic. The bamboo bag added the perfect finishing touches to the street style look-book.
Hope you liked the blog post and also please accept my sincere apologies for such a long gap between my blogs. I was visiting the United States last month and couldn’t keep up with my blog. Hopefully, you’d see few this month.
Also, please let me know how you liked this retro street-style.
Until next time,
