Every year Pantone names one colour as the colour of the year and the announcement ends up influencing a range of things from weddings to the fashion industry. 2018 belongs to Ultra Violet and we’re witnessing shades of purple/violet everywhere.
I love bright colours and ultra violet is a beautiful colour indeed. However, I am predicting a lot of ultra violet in the market in the later part of the year when the winters kick in (not that you can not wear them now – they would bring a lot of vibrancy to your summer style). As of now, I’m loving myself some pastel shades for summer like lilac, lavender etc. Hence, I thought of putting together a couple of looks in the purple family and I was surprised I had not done any (purple look-book) before.
I picked up these lilac separates from Stalk Buy Love because I wanted to do a monotone look. Involving minimal efforts, mon0tone looks are one of my favorites as they tend to make you stand out in a crowd in a super stylish way.
As you can tell, the look revolves a tad around the 80’s fashion which has made a huge comeback in 2018 and the influence can be seen everywhere – from clothes including high-waists bottoms, flares, ruffles etc to accessories like the fanny pack. While some of the things have gotten me really excited, there are few trends which keep me fussed (a separate post coming up soon on this).
Nonetheless, I styled this monotone look which includes a wrap around top and a pleated skirt with white block heels. White shoes are one of the biggest trends this year and I’m a huge fan of them, though I’d admit they are a little difficult to maintain. I tied my hair messy with the help of a silk scarf and wore a dainty silver pendant for the purpose of accessorizing.
To finish out the look, I opted for the half-moon/ semi-circular shaped straw/bamboo bag which I had bought from Fancy Pants The Store. Now you may question the utility of a see-through bag like this one and I agree, it’s quite impractical to an extent. But it’s quite a statement piece and I had my eyes on it from the very first time that Cult Gaia introduced it. Needless to say, I bought this dupe or first copy to save on some bucks which I don’t regret buying considering the utility factor weighs in a lot for me. This bag is great when you don’t have to carry tiny items in your clutch and you wish to make a statement say, to a dinner date or something.
Hope you enjoyed reading through the post! Let me know in the comments section below on what you think about the 80’s fashion coming back and also, the Pantone color of the year of course!
Until next time,
