It’s been long I did a post under my”Follow me Around” section and so here is one for you all. I would also be sharing snippets from my Shillong & Triund trip from earlier this year. So stay tuned!
I visited this beautiful boutique hotel in Mukteshwar, called ” The Birdcage” last month and was blown away by both, the beauty and warmth this place had to offer us.
To begin with, Mukteshwar is a small hilly town in Uttrakhand, lying at a distance of approximately 60 kms from Kathgodam. We took a train to Kathgodam from Delhi as it was raining pretty heavily during that time and hence, road travel was out of question! From Katrhgodam, we hired a taxi which cost us INR 1500 and two hours to get to this gem of a place!
Our entire idea for the quick weekend getaway was some us time away from the city and also, a little relaxation amid nature, and I had no complaints whatsoever from this dainty place!
There are so many things I loved about this place; the gorgeous interiors of every room, the view from the balconies, the food, the lovely and dedicated staff and the list goes on. They also have an organic kitchen garden and most of the food is prepared using vegetables grown there. I would not do justice to this blog if I don’t mention their chef who treated us some mouth watering delicacies in every meal. From breakfast to dinner, we enjoyed every bit of it and were only left wanting for more.
The place has a cozy restaurant / cafe which opens up into a small balcony and gave us some more gorgeous view. They have a lot of games and few books and travel magazines kept stacked in their cafe as well. Most of our time, we were spotted in the restaurant hogging something over a game on the table. Also, the good news is that the cafe is now open to outside visitors too; so, if you happen to cross by, don’t forget to drop in for some delectable food.
The owner of the place, Nishant, is a thorough gentleman. He kept checking on us even when he was away for some work and his staff took good care of us too.
I was in awe of the sheer beauty of the place and how well maintained it was. Kudos to the whole team which has really looked after every tiny bit of details and the brilliant aesthetics were just a proof of it. Believe you me, a mere blog post would never be able to do justice to this place; it’s an experience in itself!
The main town of Mukteshwar is about 7 kms from this place. There’s a small market nearby in case any requirement comes up. There are a couple of temples too around the hotel, which you can hike up and go to.
For those of you, who are looking for loads of activities around this place, let me tell you there ain’t too many! It is place where you just sit back and relax the serenity and calmness. There’s a breathtaking view of the himalayas to behold too!
We definitely wanted to stay longer but unfortunately had to join back office immediately. All in all, we had a really cozy stay which was mostly spent in relaxing and gorging on some appetising food. We took a stroll in the locality, surrounding the hotel and also walked few stairs up to a temple which offered us a panoramic view of the town.
We are definitely going back to this place soon and I suggest you guys go too. You guys can take a trip to this place in the winters too as the staff told us the Himalayas are best seen during that time. Also, this place will be a paradise covered with snow and you could also get your hands on some bonfires set up for you and your friends.
The property was inaugurated in May 2017 and is comparatively new but the hospitality they offered us made us believe otherwise. They have about 7 rooms on the property and I would suggest making a pretty advance booking whenever you plan to visit. You can find all the details about the property here.
I hope you guys enjoyed my story from the hills. I will be back with a new travel post very soon but before that, gear up for another fashion post on the blog tomorrow.
Until next time,
